Longest Common Subsequence

Problem

Return the length of the longest subsequence common to both strings.

Examples

Example 1
Input: {"a":"abcde","b":"ace"}
Output: 3
Example 2
Input: {"a":"abc","b":"def"}
Output: 0

Input and output use JSON-compatible values. For linked-list and tree questions, arrays represent the node structure as described above. Your code should implement solve(input).

How to solve Longest Common Subsequence

Return the length of the longest subsequence common to both strings. Match characters or skip a character from one string. The reference implementation illustrates this approach; check the example and edge cases.

Time and space complexity

O(nm) time and O(m) space.
