Problem

Return a sorted copy using the merge sort divide-and-conquer algorithm.

How to solve Merge Sort

Return a sorted copy using the merge sort divide-and-conquer algorithm. Recursively split the array, then merge sorted halves. The reference implementation illustrates this approach; check the example and edge cases.

Time and space complexity

O(n log n) time and O(n) extra space.
